Join Amina Amad, owner of Handmade Habitat, at Steadfast Supply for a DIY sustainable soy wax candle workshop!
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: Pour your own all natural soy wax candles with Handmade Habitat! In this workshop you will learn about sustainable candle making and get to make and pour your own two custom soy wax candles plus tea lights. Participants will also get to make a natural incense bundle. All materials and instruction is included. Ages 18+ unless accompanied by an adult.
WHAT'S PROVIDED: The workshop fee includes all materials necessary to create your very own soy wax candles and incense bundle! Complimentary snacks and refreshments will be provided.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Artist and chandler Amina Ahmad grew up in the rolling hills and bushy woods of the less glamorous parts of Maryland. After beginning her studies in Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Maryland, she soon discovered the toxic effects that traditionally-made candles have on the environment, home, and ultimately, body.
As a lifelong DIYer, she started making her own non-toxic, eco-friendly soy candles in her college apartment. By using only natural materials, her candle creations would purely and non-toxically illuminate the home, uplift the spirit, and inspire the soul. Amina also co-organizes the Unofficial Hand Lettering Society of Silver Spring, dabbles in creative consulting, and is a yoga teacher.
